CHRISTOPHER LOY BIO & CV

© Carlos Albuquerque
Christopher Loy is a Berlin-based international artist, performer and composer working across performance, installation and time-based media. His practice explores the relationship between body, sound, architecture and technological mediation through spatial compositions, audiovisual environments and performative systems. Combining cello, voice, movement, video and electronic sound, his works often investigate the body as both a sonic and visual interface. Central to his practice is an interest in how movement structures perception — spatially, acoustically and socially.
His projects range from durational performances and multichannel installations to score-based works and audiovisual compositions. Rather than separating musical performance, visual art and installation, his works operate between these formats, creating immersive situations in which sound, image and physical presence continuously influence one another.
Recent projects include Performative Symposium (LI Hamburg, 2025), which was an 8-hour durational performance and interactive installation, translating architectural, historical and social space into a performative structure. The work was commissioned by LI Hamburg for it’s 100th anniversary. He has presented works in institutional, musical and interdisciplinary contexts in Germany and abroad.
