CORPS CLASSIQUE
2020, durational performance at Frappant Hamburg e.V.
Collaborative performance project initiated and artistically co-directed by Benjamin Hassmann.
Using a musician, a dancer and an actor, Corps Classique explored the effect — and non-effect — of classical music and its contemporary reinterpretations on the body and its movements. Rather than presenting choreography as an illustration of music, the work investigated how sound shapes physical presence, spatial interaction and perception in real time — and vice versa.
Through live cello performance, movement and performative actions, the project created an experimental setting that offered an immediate insight into the physicality of music.
